Ballycastle, Co. Mayo

Bourke Builders re-roofed a unusual two-storey farmhouse known to be in existence in 1775. This important house was in ruins by 2010 however the decision to re-roof it was made in 2011.

- Repairs to top of existing stone walls with lime.
- Repairs were made to existing gables,
- construction of replacement timber roof structure which was in turn slated with natural slate.
- Original ‘Mayo’ Slates gathered from the original collapsed roof in the interior of the house were re-used to re-slate part of the building, to keep a historical record of the original roof structure.
