Brian Bourke

Director of Construction

Brian Bourke is the Managing Director of Bourke Builders who has a wealth of knowledge garnered from over 30 years working in the field of construction, both in a hands on and in a management capacity. He has continued to build on the reputation of delivering high quality construction projects that Bourke Builders has become known for, since it was established in 1960 by his father, Patrick J. Bourke.

Brian is noted for innovative problem solving skills, his ability to drive projects forward and also creating a company culture that is forward thinking. He is instrumental in the continued growth of the company in recent years with his willingness to explore new opportunities. Brian was responsible for the inception of a number of projects such as the construction of over 300 houses in the twin developments of Knocknalyre and Quignalecka in Ballina, Co. Mayo, the construction of 26 houses at Hawthorn Gate in Celbridge, Co. Kildare together with the development of Anglesea House in Dun Laoghaire into 13 luxury apartments.

Brian recognises that the success of any company is based on his team that supports it, which is why he has assembled a group of people he knows he can rely on. His engaging manner and his pro-active approach to management is the corner stone of maintaining ongoing relationships with clients, sub contractors and architects.

Emer Bourke

Procurement & Project Manager

Emer Bourke’s involvement with the family business over the years has ensured that she has gained experience working in the organisation and management of various projects. She was responsible for the introduction and continued application of Bourke Builder’s safety, quality and environmental management systems. She now has specialised in the area of Health and Safety management and has thrived in this role owing to her meticulous nature and her organisational capabilities.

Both Emer and her brother, Brian are fundamental in the continuing development of the company and the inception of new projects. Throughout her career she has worked on a variety of projects in such areas as education, healthcare, hotels, leisure, residential, restoration and conservation. Emer also has a personal interest in the interior architecture of the properties that the company have developed. She has a creative and practical eye, often re-organising the layout of a property in order to achieve the best possible use of the space for the client.

Emar Collins

Financial Controller

Emar is the Financial Controller of the company who is responsible for monitoring its financial discipline. Her role includes preparing financial reports, monitoring of the cashflow for various projects as well as preparing the consolidated accounts. Emar also oversees payroll for Bourke Builders and is also responsible for all financial planning, company secretarial and IT. She also maintains excellent creditor and subcontractor relations by ensuring that all payments are made on time while further ensuring that Bourke Builders maintain an exceptional credit rating

David Hicks

Technical Manager

David has worked in the architectural field for a number of years having worked on projects for Volkswagen, Audi and numerous large scale residential projects. Upon his graduation from Sligo IT in 2002, he received the Governing Body Medal. In his current role in Bourke Builders, he relishes an opportunity to work in the area of architectural conservation. During his time with the company, he has been involved with numerous projects in this area such as the stabilisation of the Lower House in Grangegorman inDublin, the renovation of the Mc Kee Army Barracks also in Dublin and the restoration of Ballysakeery Glebe in Co. Mayo.

David has published two books on the subject of the architectural and social history of the Irish Country House , ‘ Irish Country Houses – A Chronicle of Change’ and ‘Irish Country Houses – Portraits & Painters’ published by the Collins Press in 2012 and 2014 respectively. He has written for the Irish Times, The Irish Arts Review and has contributed to the National Architectural Inventory of Ireland. He has also given talks on the subject of the Irish Country House on behalf of the Dublin and London chapters of the Irish Georgian Society and has been involved in events for numerous historical societies around Ireland. He has also been featured on RTE, TV3 and other media outlets speaking about the architectural history of Ireland.

Liam Hopkins

Senior QS / Contracts Manager

Liam is a valued and integral member of the Bourke Builder’s team who has vast experience in many construction sectors such as retail, commercial, industrial, residential and health care. An experienced Quantity Surveyor and Estimator, he is now almost 40 years with Bourke Builders and has a proven track record of successfully delivering projects within budget. His organised approach ensures consistent and efficient management through out the duration of any project.

Liam is also responsible for managing the contractual elements of any project which includes preparing progress and final account claims, project reports together with the assessment and measurement of subcontractor claims. He is also head of purchasing for the entire company and has a proven track record negotiating costs with suppliers and subcontractors. Liam is also responsible for the development of the company’s own in house specialist joinery which he manages in terms of costing, purchasing and manufacturing. As one of the corner stones of the company, Liam’s contribution to any project is highly valued

Sean Mulholland

QS - Leinster Region

Sean is one of the newest members of Bourke Builders staff having joined the company in 2017. He has brought a wealth of experience to the company having worked in the field of Quantity Surveying in Ireland, the UK and New Zealand. He has practical expertise in many areas ranging from ground works to reinforced concrete structures together with particular knowledge of large scale commercial builds and reinstatement works resulting from insurance claims.

Sean’s role in Bourke Builders deals mainly with the measurement and costing of projects that the company are tendering for, preparing costs on Bourke Builders own development works and managing costs during the duration of the works. Sean is comfortable examining architectural and engineering drawings from which he prepares building cost estimates. One of Sean’s main goals since joining Bourke Builders is to focus on delivering value for Bourke Builders numerous existing clients while also developing new opportunities for the company.
